Statement Of Faith

Lighthouse Baptist Church holds to certain basic "core doctrines" which are the very foundation of our faith and our unity as a local body of believers. Below is a synopsis of these beliefs.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (the Trinity).

We believe the Scriptures of the Old Testament and the New Testament are inspired in their entirety in both a verbal and plenary way. We also believe the Scriptures have been divinely preserved for every generation and we hold, in our hands, the accurate, complete Word of God, which is without error. We belieive It is our final authority in all matters of faith and life. We believe these statements to be true as they relate to the Authorized King James Version of the Bible alone (in the English language).

We believe Jesus Christ was conceived by the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is completely God and completely man.

We believe man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is a complete separation from God. We believe because of man's sin, this death passed upon all men. All consequently are born with a sin nature and those who reach the age of moral respnsibility are held accountable for their own sin.

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a substitutionary sacrifice, and that through repentance and faith in this sacrifice we are justified before God. In accordance with this, we believe our salvation is totally dependant upon the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into Heaven, and His present ministry as our High Priest and Advocate.

We believe in the "eternal security" of the believer. It is impossible for one who has honestly been born again into the family of God (through Jesus Christ) to ever be lost (or unborn).

We believe in the local church as God's chosen tool for this age, and that all believers should unite themselves with and serve Him through a Biblically-sound local assembly.

We believe it is our privelege and duty to support the ministries of our local church with our time, talents, and tithes, and we should watch over and care for one another in love.

We believe in the rapture of all true believers before a literal seven years of tribulation upon this earth when God's wrath will be poured out against all unrighteousness.

We believe in the visible return of our Lord Jesus Christ to judge all ungodliness, and to set up a literal kingdom upon this earth.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust. The just will be raised to everlasting blessedness in Heaven with the Lord for eternity, and the unjust to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire, Hell, separated from the Lord throughout eternity.

There are, of course, other beliefs we hold dear, but these are the foundation of all else we believe and do here at Lighthouse Baptist Church.
